3 great reasons why you should plan a pre-wedding photoshoot.
Hey guys! Today I want to show you a bit of the work I have been doing in Bali and explain why I am in love with pre-wedding couple shootings.
1) Trust - Building a relationship with your photographer
Imagine for a second, a world without trust. No matter if you think about our financial system, politics, or personal relationships, without trust, there would be no human development. For the relationship between photographer and couple, trust can be the difference between walking away with good vs. excellent images. Why? Because as a couple, you will feel much more relaxed and natural when you know that you can't really make any mistakes. Great images happen when you can let loose and let yourself go. Being silly, intimate or goofing around is a whole lot easier when you feel connected to the person behind the camera. During a couple shooting you get the chance to bond and develop a trusting relationship. It's not that you can't establish trust without a pre-wedding shooting. There are many important stepping stones, like meeting with every single couple personally, along the way. But a pre-wedding shoot will make the trusting thing much easier.
2) Familiarity & Experience - Every journey begins with a single step
On our first meeting, many couples tell me that they are shy and not particularly fond of standing in front of a camera. Well, that's when I inform them that my wedding couples are 99.9% models, get up, thank them for coming and exit the room............ ok-ok, not quite there yet and not particularly fond of getting there, as this is exactly the most exciting part about my job. Guiding somebody to feel comfortable in a situation that might be stressful and unfamiliar to them. It's totally normal that the "average couple" is not being followed by a crazy person with a camera in his hand for most days of the year. A couple shooting will give you the chance to test run under "real conditions" and simply acquire some experience. After the shooting you will be familiar with the photographers intentions, directions, your own movements and possibly already the location of the wedding shooting. You will know how a certain pose looks and develop a feeling for the camera. The first time is always the hardest and when the show really goes down, you will be like: "Been there, done that".
3) Memories - Things that you can't buy for any money on this planet
Last but not least, a pre-wedding shoot is not only setting yourself up for a great wedding shoot but you are creating lovely memories that will stick with you for a lifetime. My couples just love printing the images, designing a little photo album or hanging them up on their own four walls. Every time they walk past their prints, they are reminded about this exciting day and the appreciation and love they share for each other. As a hint, the images are also really useful for your wedding invitations, table cards and can even be printed and hung up on the day of your wedding. Personally, I love couple shootings because it gives me the possibility of expressing and going all out with an exciting vision. There are no restrictions for couple shootings and possibilities are limitless. I love scouting amazing locations that fit with the couples preferences and will add the extra bit of "WOW-Effect" to their images. Summed up, a couple shooting is the perfect playing ground for bonding in an relaxed atmosphere and creating breathtaking images around a stunning environment.
